 Moods of Mind

"Men have called me mad, but the question is not yet settled whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence, whether much that is glorious, whether all that is profound, does not spring from dis-ease of thought, from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect. They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.” ~~~Edgar Allan Poe, Eleonora

I'm a Catholic/Christian, know the church is not perfect, however: In my opinion, "What the bleep" is not a cinematic excuse to stamp out organized religions as some think. On the contrary, the film supports the healing, the helping philosophies, in every main stream religion. If you or you've seen loved ones suffer, unable to find answers from modern medicine to cure present untreatable diseases, then you realize the courage the makers of this film demonstrate challenging us to know more about what we don't know. "What the bleep", is asking, what the @#% is going on? Unfair criticism of this film without critique of the film's strengths is personal bias, self applause, and not concerned with the universal good being dramatized by this type of cinema. The content is theoretical. Filmmaking technique, script, acting, etc, I leave to the cinematic workshop. My excitement rises from its content. When the theories described in the movie bring about the end of one war, the remission of disease in just one person, then such vision is vindicated. I applaud the use of humor, cinematic art, science, computer graphics and special effects. The film provides lay person and professional alike, a peek into the workings, the reality of the spiritual "Matrix" in which we find ourselves.

Quote from the site:

"If those who lead you say to you, "See, the Kingdom is in the sky," then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, "It is in the sea," then the fish will precede you. Rather, the Kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living Father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty."~~~ (All the sayings of Jesus gathered from ancient sources and compiled into a single volume for the first time. Compiled by Ricky Alan Mayotte) From The Complete Jesus. (Pg 71) Jesus

 dulcimer

smiles...

I am smitten. A dulcimer has climbed right up in my lap and said, "Take me!".

Yes, I have a new avocation. Nope, never played a string instrument in my life. Yep, its a long shot, lol.

But I KNOW I can learn simple tunes, and please myself, if no other.

And I have met the greatest bunch of people over at the Everything Dulcimer website:
http://www.everythingdulcimer.com/index.php

Actually, I don't have my dulcimer yet. It's in transit. I ordered a student model from Sweet Woods Instruments
http://www.strothers.com/sweet_woods.htm

Oh, YEAH,  I DO have my eye on a walnut or cherry or other fine solid hardwood instrument. But I figure I need to learn to play first, and then move on up to mahogany...smiles.

Many fine luthiers ( dulcimer makers) out there. Quite a few of those acclaimed for the quality of the instruments they produce, their craftsmanship,  are right there on the Everything Dulcimer discussion board. Check it out.

Thing about music, is it goes where words cannot.

Happy Thursday, all.
